Trail Hop'ers

Tuesdays at 5:00 pm

The Trail Hop'ers (BSAC's group of fun-loving, merry socialites) will continue on Tuesday evenings at 5:00 pm. With inspiration from the Bellingham Tap Trail, the group started visiting the wonderful Bellingham breweries and the fabulous food they have to offer. It has since evolved to include trips to various bars and restaurants in town in addition to the local breweries. Come meet new people and old friends for an evening outing! Meet at the BSAC at 5:00pm

Terrific Trees

Terrific Trees features specimens from John Wesselink’s List of Bellingham’s Exceptional Trees, selected for their exceptional beauty, history importance, rarity in Bellingham, or size or age of the tree; included are the European Copper Beech, American Hornbeam, Kentucky Coffee Tree, the Champion Paper Birch, Dawn Redwood, the Japanese Zelkova, and many more.



TED Talk Discussions

We invite you to join us each month to view and discuss selected TED Talks. These talks address a wide range of topics within the research and practice of science and culture, often through storytelling. The speakers are given a maximum of 18 minutes to present their ideas in the most innovative and engaging ways they can. TED Talk Tuesdays will facilitate discourse in important subjects. Each month will feature a different topic from which three TED Talks will be viewed and discussed.

Flight School

Friday, December 1st at 10:30am in Room 16

Learn to fly using the flight simulator. Instructed by Paul and Bob who have an aviation background, this is a great opportunity to fly without the risks and cost of conventional flight. Learn about cockpit controls, aviation terminology, and how to fly the plane, including take-off and landing. Newcomers are always welcome to join.



Great Book Discussion

Monday, November 27th at 9:30am - 11:00am in Room 2

The Great Books Discussion Group will meet this month to discuss the short story by Franz Kafka titled, “Metamorphosis”. It is the 4th chapter from the Great Books Reading and Discussion Program, 5th series Volume 1, pages 91 to 146, and it is also free online (gooogle “franz kafka metamorphosis pdf ”). The story is about a man who wakes up one morning and finds that he has transformed into a gigantic insect.



Wellness Wednesdays at the BSAC


Look forward to Wednesdays to get information on health and wellness at the BSAC. The Wellness Wednesday program will feature various presentations and activities to promote and increase health and personal wellness.



Chronic Disease Self-Management Program

Take control of your chronic illness & better manage your symptoms in a supportive environment! Learn to use the following tools for chronic disease management: Weight management, fatigue management, physical activity, relaxation techniques, healthy eating and action planning. $30 for members and $60 for non-members. Tech Help

Needs some one-on-one assistance on a computer, tablet of smartphone?

We have volunteers available for one-on-one assistance. Sign up at the Front Desk to reserve a 30-minute timeslot for assistance. You may bring in your own laptop, tablet or smartphone or use one of the laptops available in the lab. Fridays from 1-3 pm.



Saturday Ballroom Dancing!

The 2nd & 4th Saturday of every month

Time: 7:00 pm.

Place: BSAC Auditorium

Admission: $5 donation

We are hosting dances on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. These dances are open to the public, and to those who can't dance but are willing to learn. Music will be well-known Ballroom, Swing and Latin dance tunes (recorded-no live band).

Bring your dancing shoes and get ready to move and groove to the beat of the music!

Dance types: Ballroom with some Latin, Fox Trot, Swing, Waltz, Nightclub Two-Step, Rumba, Cha Cha, Salsa, Samba and Tango.

Line Dance

Tuesdays, 4:15 - 5:15 pm in the Auditorium

$5.00/class for members

$6.50/class for non-members

We’re excited to welcome Emily Percival as our new line dance instructor! She has experience with several different styles of dance, including ballet, tap, and jazz. She got her start teaching line dancing in the Seattle area, has been teaching for several years, and approaches her classes with patience and passion. Line dancing is a style of choreographed country dance that does not require a partner. It is a mental and physical exercise that has been shown to greatly reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s while    working several core muscle groups. Most importantly, it’s fun! This is a beginner’s class – there is no experience necessary. Stop in and prepare yourself for a boot-stomping good time!


Balance and Bone: Level II Intermediate

Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm in the Auditorium

$5.00/class for members

$6.50/class for non-members

This Pilates-based bone building exercise class offers a full body workout with strength and flexibiltiy exercises important for building bones and improving balance. This evidence-based class is designed and taught by Sidney Anderson, P.T. Please bring a mat.
