100 Activities at the Bellingham Senior Activity Center



*NEW - Circuit Training with Sam

Saturdays at 9:15-10:15 am in Auditorium

Circuit training is an excellent way to improve mobility, strength and stamina. Circuit training comprises of 6 to 10 strength exercises that are completed one exercise after another. Each exercise is performed for a specified number of repetitions or for a set time before moving on to the next exercise. The exercises within each circuit are separated by a short rest period, and each circuit is separated by longer rest period.


Tai Chi

Learn Tai Chi in the Yang style tradition. Tai Chi is a gentle way to exercise, adds to balance & coordination (fall prevention), strengthening, energy, and the form movements gentle and flowing. Instructor Paul Mulholland.

  • (Intro Class) Mondays  - 1:30-2:30pm & Thursdays - 8:30-9:30am
  • (Intermediate Class) Tuesdays  -- 8:30-9:30am.


Pilates & More!

A mix of Pilates, light cardio, strengthening of core muscles and stretching. Exercises will be either standing or sitting position, no time on the floor. Use of light weights and bands, provided by BSAC. Monday, 9:30am-10:30am.


Balance and Bone Health

This class combines the best strength, flexibility, endrance and balance exercises for improving balance, bone density, and overall stamina. Taught by Sidney Anderson. Class: Wednesdays from 9:30am-10:30am. Room 16


Balance and Bone Health: Level II

Tuesdays,  5:30pm-6:30pm in Room 16. This Pilates-based bone building exercise class offers a full body workout with streangth and flexibility exercises important for building bones and improving balance. This is an evidence baced class. Please bring a mat. Intructed by Sidney Anderson.


Yoga (Iyengar)

The Lyengar style yoga emphasizes the devolpemt of strenth, stamina, flexibiltiy, balance and mental concentration. This is accomplished by practicing poses that enage specific areas of the body with a focus on physical alignment and breathing.

Mondays, 10:45am-12:15pm or Thursdays, 9:45am-11:15am in Room 16

Classes limited to 12 participants.



Zumba gold is for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the orginal moves at a lower intensity. The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination. Instructed by Christina Winkler.

Tuesday & Thursday, 9:30am-10:30am in Room 16


Forever Fit

A total body workout for the active older adult. This class features 20 minutes of light to moderate simple cardiovascular exercise for heart health, followed by 30 minutes of muscular strenght-endurance, balance and flexibilty training. Equipment provided: hand weights, resistance bands, ball, & chair Instructed by Sam Self.

Fridays at 9:00am-10:00am. Room 16


Open Gym

Membership to the BSAC is required to participate in the Fitness room. You must complete the Strength Training Class, and have your Physician complete the Physicians Authorization Form. You also must Sign the Consent and Liability Release Form.  Open gym is 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, and 9:00am to 12:00pm on Saturdays.  Donatation $1.00/day for members.


Strength Training Classes

Cost: $60 (BSAC member) for the 15-sessions class. Those on the waiting list will have first choice to attend. To be placed on the waiting list, please complete and return the Physician's Clearance Form, available at the front desk. We will call you to register for the next class.


Smiles For Life

Elder Care Dental Hygiene Services offers a monthly oral hygiene program.  Services include: oral health evaluations, cancer screening, and routine and deep cleanings. Fees range from $85 to $125.  Must sign up for an appointment at the Front Desk.


Massage Therapy

Tovah Rainsong of "Aah, Massage!" is now providing regular massage at the Center. Table massage or chair massage available Tuesdays at 10:00am-3:00pm. Room 3. Appointment required. Sign up at the Front Desk. Fee: (charged at $1.00/minute). Pay practitioner at time of appointment. Come a bit early for your first session for a pre-interview.


Foot Care

Keep your feet happy and healthy. Come in and see Suzanne Shrock, RN, Certified Foot Care Specialist. Please stop by the Front Desk or Call for an appointment on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Your feet will thank you.

Trends in Science

Tuesdays 3:00-4:00pm in Room 2.

Animal, vegetable, mineral. From the lifestyle of ladybugs to the temperature at the South Pole, scientific research is constantly making new discoveries. Let's discuss some of them so come join us every Tuesday afternoon at 3pm in room 2.



Wednesdays 1:45pm in Room 1. This is a free class.

Do you remember history and events from the past? Have fun, test your knowledge, and stimulate your memory while sharing adventures and experiences from life and learning. This class challenges your memory, encourages recall, and excites your brain! Join us anytime.


Personal Writing

Tuesdays 9:30 to 11:00. Room 1. This is a free class.

Anything goes shared writing! Poerty, prose, whimsy, experiences - a writing commons. Join us as we read and discuss our writing.


Memoir Writing

Wednesday 9:30 to 11:15. Room 9. This is a free class.

Are you a writer who would enjoy sharing your writing and hearing what other wrtiers are working on? Come meet us and see if you enjoy our interchange.

Leave your descendants a written record, or perhaps write a book about your life. We take turns reading aloud from written accounts of our memories; then we discuss and enjoy a laugh while sharing our own early memories.

Play Reading Group

1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 1:30pm-3:00pm, Room 1. Play readings and radio theatre.


Painting for Fun

Friday, 9am to 12pm, Room 1. Learn the art of watercolor painting. Free for members.


Rug Hooking

Tuesday, 9am to 3pm, Room 9. Learn how to make beautiful hooked rugs and hangings. Materials not provided.



Thursday, 8:30 to 11:00am, Room 9. Materials not provided.


Portrait Drawing

Thursday, 10am-12pm. Any experience welcome. Bring your own drawing materials. Participants share the cost of a model fee. Bring $5 to class.



Thursday, 1pm to 4pm Room 2. Oil painting with instruction. Suggested donation of $5 to instructor.



Music & Dancing


Ballroom Dance

Open to the public and to those who can't dance but are willing to learn.  Music will be well known Ballroom, Swing and Latin dance tunes. (Recorded, no live band)  There will be several dance types:  Ballroom with a little Latin, Fox Trot, Swing, Waltz, Nightclub Two-Step, Rumba, Cha Cha, Salsa, Samba and Tango.

  • 2nd and 4th Saturdays 7:00pm-9:00pm in the Auditorium
  • Dance is at 7pm in the BSAC Auditorium.  Admission is $5.


Tuesday Dance

Enjoy dancing every Tuesday. Great tunes by Good Vibrations. Refreshments provided. 2:00pm-4:00pm in the Auditorium. $5 suggested donation.


The Senior Singers

Meet Mondays at 2:30pm-3:30pm in the Auditorium. This volunteer group gives performances around the area. We sing for fun and for others. Newcomers welcome. Maggie Malone (425) 747-8684.

Tuesday, 11:15am-12:00pm in Room 2.  Join others who like to sing for fun! Songs are provided.

English Country Dancing

Thursday, 1:30pm-3:00pm in the Auditorium

Senior Steppers

Welcomes new tap dancers. Classes are free. Mondays at 9:15am-10:30am and Fridays at 1:30pm-3:00pm in the Auditorium. Bev 392-7417.




Ping Pong

Monday through Friday, 9:00am-10:30am & Tuesday and Thursday, 2:30pm-4:30pm. The table is in Room 15. Ask at Front Desk for help with set up. Paddles, balls and net are available in the Lobby area on the game shelf.



The pool room is open Monday through Saturday. Please place $1 or more in the donation box to help with maintenance and upkeep of the tables and cue sticks. Thanks!


The Button Walkabouts

Join us for a social, easy-paced walk. Please stay with a parnter on designated trails. Most walks containdirt trails which are not conducive for portable walkers. All walkers must be Members of BSAC. $1.00 minimum gas donation. Need more information? call Pattie (360)-752-1619

Senoir Trailblazers

The hikes range from 6-10 miles and are moerate to difficult. Many of the hikes take place in the Mount Baker Wilderness and surrounding areas. Current schedule of hikes available at the front desk or online at Carpooling is used to share the expense with the drivers. Wear good hiking shoes or boots, practice good hiking habits and stay with your group.

Card Games
